1.40 lakh students of Std. 12 Science stream and 5.43 students of general stream will appear for the examination in the state. There will be seating for 20 students in a class with strict adherence to Corona’s guidelines. By increasing the number of examination centers, the student will be given an examination center near the school.
Taking into consideration the health-safety aspect of the young students of Gujarat in the currently prevalent world-wide ‘Corona’ pandemic situation in the state, the Gujarat Government’s ‘Core Committee’, headed by Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani, today in its meeting has taken a decision to
give Merit Based Progression (MBP) to the intermediate semester students of higher study courses, except graduation students of medical and para-medical courses, of the government as well as private universities-colleges.
Disclosing this, Gujarat Education Minister Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that the decision of the MBP was taken only for this academic year the by the state government because the educational works
in schools-colleges had been severely affected due to the prevalent situation of transition of ‘Covid-19’ pandemic in Gujarat.
He further stated that the benefit of the MBP would be availed to all the students studying in intermediate semesters 2, 4 and 6 of all the courses, except students of medical and para-medical colleges, of government as well as private colleges and universities of the state. It is estimated that these students in total are approximately 9.50 lakh.
Giving further details about the MBP, the education minister said that students will be given 50 per cent marks on their internal assessment and remaining 50 per cent marks would be based on their performance in the immediate-previous semester.

In the midst of the Corona epidemic, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister on how to organize examinations for Std. 12 students this year. As per the decision taken, this year’s annual Std. 12 Science and General stream examinations conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. It will be held on Thursday, July 1, in the usual manner.
